Construction of the new Gulf Oil corporation unit to make a tetra ethy! ingredient is expected to be gin “in the near future.” It was learned today. Reliable sources in dicated that immediacy of the un dertaking depends on government priority given the venture Top priority is now being asked in Washington, it was understood. Gulf Of! corporation officials here today still had no official details on the project which has been reportedly priced at some $11, 000,000. Contract for installation is expected to be let to the Lummnus company Reliable sources said that Gulf officials have not yet decided whether the new operation would be placed on property near the main refinery here or in the vicin ity of Taylor's bayou. About 100 additional employes will be needed to operate and main tain the new unit. It was believed. Already under construction at the Gulf works here is an $8, 000,000 “super” catalytic cracking unit. Construction of that project began last summer and is sched uled for completion in some eight or nine months.
