Ford Praises LB WASHINGTON (AP) — Pres ident Ford praised former President Lyndon B. Johnson in a ground breaking ceremony for the LBJ Memorial Grove on the Potomac River. Ford joined Lady Bird John son and other Johnson family members in Friday’s ceremo ny. He shoveled earth around the roots of a 17-foot white pine tree, the first of about 500 to be planted in the 15-acre grove. He praised Johnson's conduct as Senate Democratic leader as ‘“‘a model of bipartisan states manship” and said ‘‘whenever America’s welfare was con cerned, LBJ always put coun try before party.”’
