Native Copper.Mr. Blackford, through Mr. Condee, has favored us with the care of a very fine specimen of native copper taken from his stone quarry, near this village. The specimen is perfectly pure, aud weighs li pounds. It was taken from a crevice in the rock, and Mr. Blackford is of opinion that his men have shoveled out, from the spalt of the quarry, a considerable quantity. From the location of this lump, and the appearsnoe of the crevioe, as there Umore or less verdigris displayed, it seems quite certain that there is copper in some I quantity in this location. There has, oc- • casionally, been specimens of float copper found in this mineral region, in LaFayette, j Grant and Iowa counties, and also in this, but with the exception of the mine near , Mineral Point, this is the first disoovery,j we believe, in rock crevice.—Monroe StaleRight*.
