The Electric street railway r company have a force of fully one hun- € dred men and teams scraping out the t roadway, stringing ties and iron and laying track for the double track line between South street and the entrance to Crapo park. With good weather there now seems little doubt but what this track will be all complete and the i street car company prepared to do the j service that will be required of them. ( They have shown extraordinary activity in the last few days, and the indications point to the positive comple- j tion of the work. Their new equip- lt;ments have commenced to arrive and lt;the big transfer trucks were busy to- i day unloading the new electric gearing { and rolling stock for the large new mo- y tor cars that will be put in service the ] first day of October. Skilled machinists and electricians are at work, and lt;the company give assurances that all ] will be In readiness by the time re- ^ quired. The work of stringing the ] wires will be completed this week, and ] the electrical equipments for the opera- ^ tion of both tracks is promised to be in « readiness by Saturday night. The ties j and iron for all the work is on the lt;ground, and only labor is required to i put the finishing touches. sThe Cascade bridge is entirely com- • Pleted and turned over to the city. It , is a magnificent structure and will be ■ one of the interesting sights in Bur- i lington for many years to come. Standing on the walk both sides of the Cascade present a very attractive and ro- ] mantic view, and the distance to the bottom of the Cascade from the center of the bridge is over 100 feet. The whole structure Is decidedly hand- -some, and hundreds of interested citizens visited the work yesterday.At Crapo park all is hustle and excitement. The huge coliseum is almost ready for use and it could be occupied even now in twenty-four hours’ notice.All Burlington ladies should arrange to attend the grand fall opening at Mrs. Moard’s millinery parlors Wednesday and Thursday.Wanamaker Brown fall suiting samples at Harrington Salter’s.MUDDY ROADS.It Cause* Somo Iticuuveuleuco to the People That Visited trupo Park.Main street south of South street was almost impassible yesterday as a result of the double track being laid for the street railway company. But the driving around the Madison road was also very disagreeable, as the mud was something terrible, and it was from this cause that so many people were prevented from seeing the new park yesterday afternoon. The street cars carried many people all day long to this place, as also did one of the steamers, and this goes to show that Burlington people are pioud of the work that has been done, and are anxious to show it to their friends.The new' bridge v'as the principal topic of conversation, and nearly five thousand people walked across this structure yesterday. The coliseum also show’s the result of speedy work, as it is now entirely finished, with the exception of painting, and this part of the work is progressing rapidly. Already the small boy has climbed up into the top of the building, and either cut or wrote his name in as large letters as the place would accommodate. Concerning the talk that the building will only last this year, or it may possibly stand until next summer, only tends to injure the people’s interest in the park and celebration also, and another thing, these remarks are all untrue. One of the prominent citizens of Burlington stated yesterday that with the proper care and attention this building would last for twenty-five years, as it was erected for a permanent and substantial building.
