There were hanging baskets of fuchsia, baskets of species of ivy and kanchloe and various flowering varieties of plant materialThe tables were centered with hurricane lamps and arrangements of mangolds, coxcombs and greenery, and all the flowers were grown in the volunteer's gar den which is called The Garden of All Seasons The flowers were done bv RuthwBrankey and her committee It was a balmy evening and the melodic music of Dexter Jones and his Arcadia Ramblers added greatly to the magic of the affair.Mrs John Grivich, president of the Ar-twwetum Foundation, was in charge of arrangements, and Francis Ching. director. was master of ceremonies Mrs Robinson held court before dinner when she greeted guests and again after dinner, she greeted those she had not met beforeMr Ching introduced Pete Schabarum, supervisor of l^rst District, who in turn presented Mrs Robinson with a plaqueHobinsonfrom Los Angeles County. Mrs Grivich presents one from the Arboretum Foundation William Martin representing Supervisor Ernest Debs, in whose district the Virginia Gardens are located, also spoke in appreciation of Mrs Robinson s generous gift The group drank two toasts to the honored guest, one in appreciation and the other in honor of her birthday The 140 guests included 50 members of the Arboretum Foundation. Mrs Mary Richmond Bittner, president of H\e Board of Governors of the Arboretum, and Merrill Bittner. Mr and Mrs Samuel Ayres, also from the Board of Governors; Mr and Mrs Schabarum, Mr and Mrs William Martin. Odell McConnell, advisor and escort for Mrs Robinson, Mr and Mrs Randall Stoke, she is on the Board of Governors, and John Scott, musical conductor at Deseanso Gardens.
