John of Sandhill, Miss., and Mrs. Lena Fayard of Vancleave.JAMES BELAND IVJames William (Bill) Beland IV, 38, a plant geneticist with the U.S. Forestry Service in Gulfport and a resident of 277 Alexander Rd. in Long Beach, died Friday at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Long Beach where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Evergreen Gardens. Born in Anniston, Ala., he was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his Master’s Degree. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice Stanaland Beland; one son, Jimmy W. Beland V; one daughter, Jane Elizabeth Beland, all of Long Beach; his mother, Mrs. Lorena Blackwell Beland of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Wade of Greensboro, N.C., and Lucia Beland of Atlanta; and two brothers, John M. Beland of McClellanville, S.C., and Robert D. Beland of Coco Beach, Fla.VERDA SHEFFIELDFuneral services for Mrs. Verda Stidham Sheffield will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. from Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport, followed by burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
