More Than 1,100 ChildrenExpected to Begin WorkSEVERAL NEW TEACHERSQuakertown, Sept. 1J—With an enrollment ul approximately 1,150 children, the schools of this borough will open for the new term on Mondaymorning.All vacanoies. including the substitutes for three teachers who were granted military leave of absence, have been filled. Although no extensive improvements have been made to the school plant, all buildings are in good repair.In spite of all the readjustments made in the faculty, only four new teachers will be on hand to greet the children. Miss Martha N. Albert Bethlehem, a graduate of State College, has succeeded Mr. Kunkle as instructor of instrumental music and English. Mr. Kunkle has been granted a military leave for the duration.Mrs. Arlene Pease has succeeded Miss Irma Schermann as instructor of English, and she will also be in charge of school publications. Miss Eleanor Unangst succeeds Miss Betty Sohl as teacher of the first grade in the Franklin building, and Paul K. Detweiler has become the successor to Harold Klinger in the agriculturaldepartment.Two of last year's substitutes have been elected regular teachers. e They are Mrs. Edna Praff, who will be in charge of the third grade in the Franklin building, and Miss Elizabeth(Please Turn to Page 6)
