The jail still frowns upon us from its ancient eminence. The old Market House stands where it “ used to did,*’ w ith its heels in 1 the air an* its nose in the giound, and nothing but the very great and increasing ponderosity of “Old Beef” prevents it from turning a sum- i jnersel into the Mississippi.flank Roll.Three miles of the Plank Road have been 1 complete*!—and nine miles more will be constructed before the close of the season.
