Unjusfifiablo Arrest*Om Saturday last Dr, Stearns who is stopping at the Faasett House, was ar* j rested on a complaint of Dr. Kyeof this village for practicing without the requisite legal qualifications of a physician and arraigned before judge W W Nichols. B C Rude appeared for the prosecution, and Gen. Rufus Scott for the defendant. Points of law were discussed at considerable length. The defendant presented diplomas that he had., graduated with high honors at at several medical colleges; also a certificate according to law of registration, whereupon the doctor was promptly discharged to the gratifical tion of all spectators. Many of our citizens feel very indignant on account of this arrest, and bHieve !fc wholly unjustifiable, certainly if the motive was to destroy hi? popularity as a physician, and his large and increasing practice it will Tail to accomplish its object. The diplomas presented in court show Dr. Stearns to be thoroughly educated»jand qualified to practice his profession.
