j We are located in a small village i in southern France, about three milesi 9 -•from Clermont Ferran. We have been here about three weeks, in aj 7j village named Gerzot, and it is verv | old.i! The most of our men are biUetted | in the barn of an old chateau whichc; was built in 1663, and the rest of them I are in another barn. The men are I well fixed and everybody is happy. Another Lieutenant and myself have a very comfortable room over a wood-I shed and sieep in a real bcclt;. Ofi 1 course we do not have running hoti ^;waver, a private bath and steam heat.! but we are very comfortable, i Last Thursday night I went down; to a little creek that rums out of the■' mc«inta-sns an.i lock a bath. The water .was awfullv loi.i. but I took a hoavv : coat with me and I felt no ill effectsj| from it. I go down every Thursdayland wash off the week’s accumulation►| of dirt. It requires a lot of nerve.i'and is a task that makes one gladj ,■ hen it is over. We make the men bathe twice a week, but once is j enough for an officer, especially whenlt;it has to be done in cold water.We are very busy and have very little time for ourselves. We go to school either all forenoon or all afternoon. Part cf the men go in the forenoon and the rest in the afternoon.After supper we study until 10:30.
