This morning a pile of ashes marksthe site of Jerry McNew’s residence.Yesterday afternoon about 4 o’clockwhile the family were absent, the housewas fired through a defective flue andbefore assistance could bo rendered itand its coutents were totally destroyed.No insurance. Mr. McNew is poorand old and has dependent upon him afamily of six. With winter so near, hiscircumstances are truly distressed. Now let '‘Sweet Charity” air her graces,Oct. 10. Brichendock.
