Shook family holds reunionThe 56th Shook family reunion was held on Sept, 13 at the Thurmont Community Park. About 60 people attended.Door prizes were won by Freddie Kegarise, Sean Burke, David Smith, Carol Boiler, Liz Murray and Mikey Thomas. The grocery basket was won by May Carty. In guessing games, Wanda Shook, Charles Boiler, Lou Boros, Debbie Bane and Cliff Carbaugh were the winners.Money gifts were awarded to the following: oldest Shook woman, Helen Bruckey (74); oldest Shook man, Warren Shafer (66); oldest woman (other than Shook), Violet Toms (72); oldest man (other than Shook), Cliff Carbaugh (85); youngest child, Megan Murray (2); largest family, Dennis and Liz Murray (5); longest married, Harry and Mildred Detrow (54 years); most recently married, Dennis and Liz Murray (3 years); most recent birthday,Debbie Bane (Sept. 6), and longest distance traveled, Patsy and John Somogy lt;60 miles).An auction of wrapped gifts was held and bingo was played. Cake walks were won by Lisa Kline, Missy Heininger and David Smith.
