John DurliatCUSTAR - John Durliat, ofj Custar, observed his 90th birthday Friday by attending church services at St. Louis Catholic Church here and having a family dinner with relatives at noon.Mr. Durliat was born Oct. 7, 1870 in Farnum, Ohio, He was married Oct. 20. 1890 to Rosa Gilbert when the St. Louis Church was still a small frame building.He and Mrs. Durliat moved to Cleveland where he worked in the steel mills and in 1893, they moved back to Farnum where he began farming. Later that year! they moved to Custar where Mr. Durliat eventually farmed 380 acres of land. He retired in 1915 and moved to Custar where he opened the Custar Garage which he operated for three years.Mr. Durliat purchased his first automobile, a Buick, in 1908 and continued to buy the same make car until he quit driving in 1958. In October. 1940, Mr. and Mrs. Durliat celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.' They traveled extensively, visiting many parts of the United States and. Canada. They had a cottage on the!! Maumee River for some time.
