Jones, assistant superintend-I cnt of El Pans schools, was elected temporary president of the Southwestern Educational association atthe close of the annual meeting in Hotel Hussmann Saturday. Enrique Liekens, Mexican consul general, was elected temporary secretary.Both offices are temporary because the association is not yetfully organized and has no constitution or by-laws.Permanent organization will notbe made until copies of the constitution and by-laws have been submitted to the Mexican department of education and to the bureau of education at Washington for their approval.Educators from Texas, California. Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Mexico are members of the association, which has the primary purpose ! of bringing Mexico and the United States closer together through the education of students of bothcountries.El Paso was named as the meeting place for 1929.Organization of the conferencewas begun in El Paso last year with Miss Lois Randolph, state superintendent of public instruction of New Mexico, as the active head.
