Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance trainees to receive certificates Dec. 8State Senator Gene Johns will award certificates designating 43 men and women as state and nationally registered EmergencyMedical Technicians-Ambulance, in ceremonies to be held in the community room of the Bank of Harrisburg Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 p. m.All of those who will receive certificates have successfully completed the 81-hour EMT-A training courses given in July and August by Pearce Hospital, Eldorado, Hardin County Hospital and Southeastern Illinois College.Speakers at the certificate award ceremony will be Senator Johns of Marion, Dr. J. Dale Cavaness, Eldorado, SIC Dean and acting president Harry Abell and Mrs. Joy Goodman. Ben Felton will act as master of ceremonies.Personnel who will receive the EMT-A certificates are trained toevaluate the critically injuredand seriously ill patient, and to perform the emergency medical care that is necessary. They are trained to give mouth-to-mouth breathing, apply chest massage to keep the heart pumping, to recognize fractures and splint them, to apply bandages to open cuts and stop bleeding.
