INDIAN RELICS ARE AROUND BUFFALO LAKEMORE THAN 800 MOUNDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN COUNTEDiIN LOCALITYPortage, Wis., Nov. 19—That valuable Indian relics were located near here, in the Buffalo lake region was ascertained in a recent survey by Dr. S. A. Burnett, president of the Wisconsin Archaeological society.More than 800 Indian mounds have been counted and many rare utricles have been unearthed. Included arc precious stones, metal instruments, hatchets, hammers, stone axes and various, kinds of bric-a-brac, such as pipes odd kinds of furn.'.uro and knives.It was also learned that the knoll uion which the old fort stood had been in prehistoric times an Indian village.
