By Pui Ray. Staff Writer HOLLIDAYSBURG — An alleged heroin kingpin from Camden, N.J., faces more charges after authorities say he and anoth er inmate assaulted a prosecution witness. Victor Palmore, 34, Camden, along with Michael Bryant, 22, Altoona, was charged by Hollidaysburg police in the reported assault, while two other prisoners are accused of possession of homemade knives. The jail warden, John Prebish, and deputy warden, Larry LaVelle, were not avail able for comment Friday. Charges of criminal con spiracy, simple assault, assault by a prisoner and dis orderly conduct were filed against Palmore and Bryant. Palmore The assault occurred Oct. 8 after Jacob Brown had testified earlier that day in the preliminary hearing of Palmore associate Quincy J. Wilmington, Baltimore. According to the charges, Palmore and Bryant entered Brown’s cell and began to assault him. Corrections officers pulled the inmates apart. Preliminary hearings for both Palmore and Bryant on the assault charges are scheduled for Tuesday. Brown, 27, Baltimore, is accused of being a part of Palmore’s drug organiza tion. Officials believe the organization operated for several years in the Altoona area. Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher called Palmore Blair County’s hero in kingpin following his arrest in August. Palmore is awaiting trial on more than 100 charges of drug trafficking and operating a corrupt organization. Brown testified that Palmore and mem bers of his drug organization made regu lar trips to Camden, Philadelphia and Baltimore to purchase heroin. They then sold the drug in Altoona. Palmore recruited members of his drug organization from two Altoona drug reha bilitation centers, Brown said. Hollidaysburg police said Brown was Please see Attack/Page A10
