Havelock NewsPearl MickMrs. Alice Quade was hostess toa meeting of the Thimble club held in her home Wednesday, At the close of the business meeting and social hour a lunch was served.The Havelock high school (basketball teams opened their season Tuesday evening when the initialgame was played on the home floor with the Cylinder teams.Boys' won 62 to 28 and the girls won 47-39.Jo Elyn Whitman led the Havelock girls by scoring 27 points, Anna Clausen made three points, Marlene Spiker, 3 and Carole Swecker 5, Phyllis Bruhm was high for Cylinder with 31 points. Roger Johnson scored 21 pointsand James Dyvig 16. Freeman was high for the visitors with 10 points.Win Fourth PlaceThe Havelock boys finished fourth in State class Cross country race held Saturday at Ame3 with six teams entered in the race. Herman Clausen placed seventh, Ray Vial, 15th, James Byvig, 20th and Larry Dailey, 27, with all totaling 42 points.Mr, and Mrs. Bert Gaskill have returned home from Edgemont, S. D., where they attended last rites for a brother-in-law. They also visited Mrs. GaakilFs sister, who was injured in an auto accident, when being brought home from a hospital,Mrs. Adrian Logan has returned home after spending several weeks with her sister and family in Boise, Ida%.Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Perry are the parents of a daughter bom at the Emmetsburg hospital during the week. They also have a son.Grandparents are the Runnebergs and Cyrus Perrys of this place.Mr. and Mm Ted Stover and Mrs. Charles Philp attended funeral services Thursday afternoon at the Albert City church for Elmer Nordine, He died following a heart attack.Here For Brother's FuneralMr. and Mrs. Roy Nordine of Batavia, 111., visited with relatives here the last of the week. They were called- here by the sadden death of the former's brother, Elmer.To Whiter In FloridaMr. and Mrs. Charles Hilger left Thursday for Illinois for a short visit with relatives.
