liiinf formysterymonsterA GIANT bear with the face of a monkey is being hunted in Lockridge, Iowa, after a spate of mysterious turkey killings.Farmer Herb Peiffer saw the bear—known as the Lockridge Monster in his tractorlights while enroute to his turkey pens, but at first was afraid to tell his family.“He thought we would make fun of him,” said his wife Dor-IS.But. she told the Star, it s no laughing matter.We go out some mornings and see piles of partially-eaten turkeys, still bloody and warm,“The game warden says there are no bears in Iowa and that it would be very unusual for a bear to go around piling up dead turkeys instead of burying them.“But my husband said the animal stood on his hind two feet and only bears do that“The tracks are huge. A man with a si/e 12 foot doesn't even come near to filling them up.“And now the whole town is I making fun of us. They say Herb’s a fool, a liar, or a drunk. And he doesn’t evendrink.| Mrs. Peiffer said that local troublemakers are making things pretty hairy for them down on the farm.“Half-drunks in pick-up trucks are out every night looking for the thing and spooking the turkeys/* shesaid.“If it s a bear.
