RPD recovers guns, arrests two suspectsRuston Police recovered four stolen guns and arrested two Ruston men Thursday for the Oct. 30 burglary of an apartment in the 300 block of East California Avenue.Being held at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center this morning on $5,000 bond each, were Wayne Bryant, 20, of 231 Duque Dr. and Chris Brantley, 21, of Blueberry Hill Trailer Park, No. 50.According to Det. Jay Kava-naugh, a Crimestoppers tip lead to the Thursday recovery of one of the stolen rifles. During the course of the investigation, he said, Bryant and Brantley were developed as suspects in the crime.After questioning the two men, Kavanaugh said, police were able to recover two additional rifles, a shotgun and a portion of the jewelry that was reportedly taken during the burglary.Also Thursday, The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department recovered a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette that had apparently been stolen from a Dallas-area car dealership.Det. Joey Davidson said the sheriff’s office was alerted bv themanager of a Simsboro apartment complex that a strange car had been parked in the parking lot for several days. When officers checked on the identification of the vehicle, he said, it was listed as belonging to a Richardson, Texas, car dealership.Apparently, the car dealership was not aware that the car had been stolen. It had not been reported stolen.In addition, Davidson said, sheriff’s deputies Thursday arrested Tony Ashley, 25, of 1510 Sikes St., Ruston, in connection with a shooting last weekend at a club, the “Boondocks,” located in southeastern Ruston, just off the Beacon Light Road.Ashley was charged with aggravated battery and was being held on $7,500 bond. Davidson said that witnesses claim Ashley was involved in an argument with another man while inside the club late Oct. 31, when he apparently pulled out a small-calliber pistol and began shooting at the man.The man was shot in the shoulder and treated and released from Lincoln General Hospital.
