Pettis, of Providence, Rhode Island, who served as captain of a company in the California Column during the Civil war.Captain Pettis learned through the Now Mexican Review of the unfortunate plight of C. H. Walker, of Alamogordo, an old veteran who recently was committed to the territorial insane asylum at Las Vegas because of insanity.
