On the same page immediately beneath are found the names of Hiram II. N ames and Ixmisa Maudlin, also granted license to assume the marriage relation, the woman in the case being one and the same person.At the last term of court the first named applicants were granted a divorce on the application of Mrs. Maudlin, to which the defendant offered no resistance. SubsequentlyMrs. Maudlin made her home with the Varnes’, in the north part of the city, while Milo moved along in the even tenor of his way. After a lime he decided that living single was not just the thing, and overtures were made to his divorced wife for a reconciliation and remarriage. The warmed-over courtship progressed handsomely and the hour was fixed for a renewal of the marital vows.Milo rented rooms, purchased furniture, paid water and gas hills in advance and Mrs. Maudlin had brought I |ea her furniture to the rooms and all was in readiness for the marriage. A| forfew minutes before seven o’clockMonday evening they were in their new quarters awaiting the arrival of | US 'Squire Moreland, whose services had been engaged to tie the knot, when Iin came Hi Varnes, also a suitor forthe hand and heart of the said Louisa, and demanded a final hearing. In | thi the midst of the discussion ’Squire Moreland came in with clerical and solemn tread and asked that the high contracting arise. This brought matters to a crisis. The woman yielded to the appeal of the untried candidate and the former engagement was declared of!'. 'Squire Moreland, finding that his maiden ease in the matrimonial line and the accompanying fee had slipped away from him, quietly withdrew. Varnes and the woman then left together and Maudlin locked the house and went his way.This morning Varnes procured a license and ’Squire Bohan was called on to marry the couple at the Varnes| home on North Kennedy street, which he did.
