BY ROGER LARSENOF THE PLAINSMANRandall Foods will nearly double its store size with a new supermarket in South Huron, the manager said this morning.Construction beings next month onland south of Centennial Road east ofHighway 37, Kevin Scheel said.The 32-store supermarket chain based in Mitchell has had a store in Huron for 40 years.And the president and chairman of the board said recent gains made by the city prompted Randall stores Inc. to make the decision to build a new store.Huron had really shown signs of progress in the past few years and we’re very happy to be a part of the growth, Ronald Randall said in a news release.Randall said the new store, which he described as State-of-the-art” in the supermarket industry, will be 40,000square feet. That compares with the current 24,800 square-foot facility at 1950 Dakota Ave. S.There are no plans at this time for Randall’s to share space with another retailer in its new location, Scheel said. Randall’s will close its current store when the new supermarket is finished, he said.Randall’s now shares building space with Lewis Drug.
