Mrs. Hannah Miller Swengel.llannah Miller was born in Snyder county, Pa , on the 19th day of May, 181(. The years of her childhood were spent in her native county, and afterwards sho moved to Lewiston, Union county, where sho remained until aim came to the west.On the 8th day of April, 1838, she was united in marriage to Michael Sivengel, with whom she spent many happy years, and who preceded her to the land of rest several years.In 1850 they camo to Illinois and in 1857 to Princeton. She has lived here ever since. Sho had united with the Lutheran church in her earlylchihlhood, and when she came here and found no church organization of her own choice, she, with her husband and others, soon look steps looking toward the organization of tlie Lutheran church. Services were held in their home for three months at one time before the congregation was organized.In 1875, on the 27th day of February, the church was organized with twenty-live charter members, nearly all of whom have passed away. Mrs. Swengel was always a faithful mother, and we owe more than we can ever tell to those good mothers of former days for their devo- v tion and spirit of self-sacrifice for the 0 coming generations. sMrs. Swengel was the mother of nine children, all of whom have preceded her into the land of rest except Alfred M., who is here to day mourning the depart- j ure of a good and kind mother.8c
