BENTON COUNTY PIONEERS i VISIT SON IN VINTONIf Among Vinton’s visitors the past week were Mr. and Mrs. O. Mayhew of Blairslmvn, who were here several ,days. guests at the home of their son, M. E. Mayhew. on West 10thstreet.i fn 1S67 Mr. Mayhew bought a small ‘tract of land in St. Clair township ^ of Banker Watson of this city for ■ which he paid $7.00 an acre. He9 *found it as hard to make the payments and meet the Interest on this j place during the Grant administration as it would be to make payments .at this time on $400 an acre land.
