PH1LLIPPUS.Seceding Membet-s or St. Matthew’* ChoosePastoi' Plater for Their Guide.The seceding members of St. Matthew’sChurch, at Liberty and Elm, held a meeting yesterday afternoon at half-past 2 in the kindergarten rooms at 676 Race street. About 250 of the 800 selt;?eders wore present, and a church organization was effected. The name of the new church Is to be St. PbiHippus German EvangelicalProtestant Church.The Kev. Jacob Pister, at present pastor of St. Matthew’*, was unanimously chosen pastor of the new organization. The following officerswere elected: President, Bernhard Leeker; Vice President, Henry Haserneier; Secretary, Charles Uuckenberger; Financial Secretary, Louis G.. Hummel; Elders, Fred Blum, Fred Frantzmeier;Deaoons, Nicholas Penny, Chris Reutepohler, John Kruck, William Dorman;‘Trustees, Henry Gertie, Fred Otte, Christ Feiler, Henry Streitel-medor.'Jthe Sunday-school, which seceded from St, Matthew’s and is part of the new church, meets every Sunday morning at the Odeon, and was yesterday over five hundred strong. The old church tried a new preacher—the Rev. Schmith— last night, who expounded his text to a crowdedchurch.
