He has been granted temporary and limited freedom a number of times. At the Indiana state prison he always had the reputation of being a model prisoner.Announcement of HInshaw's parole was made by Frank Litschert, sec retary to Governor Goodrich. The governor now is In the south. Papers In the case authorizing the release of the prisoner were sent today to Warden Fogarty, of the Indiana state prison at Michigan City.The Hinshaw case is probably Indiana's most celebrated murder case. Hinshaw and his wife, although living in Winchester, were in Hendricks county and on their return one night to the home where they were visiting Hinshaw said they were attacked in their room by robbers, who killed Mrs. Hinshaw. But Hinshaw was arrested, charged with the crime, and he was convicted.Hinshaw was paroled by Governor Durbin in- 1905, but Governor llanly revoked the parole in 1906 because! of Hinshaw’s relations with Mrs. Anna Freeman, of Wabash. Governor Goodrich granted Hinshaw a temporary parole in 1917 and Hinshaw went to his Kansas farm and then to Colorado, where he bought a ranch. He assumed that his parole was not temporary. When he was notified to return to the state prison he sent for Mrs. Freeman, who was then at Spokane. Wash. She came to Colorado and she and Hinshaw were married a few days before Hinshaw returned to prison.Two members of the pardon board. J. T. Arbuckle and Adolph Seiden-stlcker, signed a majority report for the parole of Hinshaw, and A. D. Thomas filed a minority report against parole. Arbuckle and Sei-densticker say they do not believe the burglary story, but they also do not believe Hinshaw killed his wife.Thomas says he believes Hinshaw did kill his wife, and that inasmuch as while on parole he debauched the wife of another man and that he is not entitled to clemency.Other Paroles.Paroles were recommended in the following cases:Hollis Newnum, sentenced from Fountain county, March 20, 1917, two to fourteen years, for burglary, to the state reformatory.James Byrne sentenced from Putnam county to th*»etate prison, February 23, 1917, two to five years, for escaping from the penal farm.Clifford Darling, sentenced from Ripley county to the state prison, December 2, 1904, for life, for murder.mey uotn neileved was his deathbed.There’s Just one thing.
