GOVERNOR PAROLES REV. WILLIAM E. HINSHAWOnce More Preacher Convicted of Wife Murder Is Given His Freedom.PAROLE FOR HENRY KORTESont Up From Allen County, Is Aleo Recommended by the Board.INDIANAPOLIS, March 30.—The Rev. William E. Hinshaw, sentenced to prison from Hendricks county for life for murder, more than twenty years ago. has been given a parole. It waa announced at the office of Governor Goodrich today.Hinshaw probably was Indiana’s most noted prisoner. His case having attracted wide attention. The action announced today has been expected for some time.The parole gianted Hinshaw at this time is effective during good behavior.” It allows the former minister to go to his ranch in the southwest, should he desire. He purchased the ranch last year while at liberty under a temporary parole. Before his return to prison at the expiration of his temporary parole in 1917 Hinshaw said he had married and his wife is reported to be living on his ranch.Hinshaw was charged with having murdered his wife, but always denied his guilt. He once was at liberty under a parole during good behavior, but it was revoked when it was reported he had become too friendly with a married woman. He has been granted temporary and limited freedom a number of times. At the Indiana state prison he always had the reputation of being a model prisoner.Announcement of Hinshaw’s parole was made by Frank Litschert, secretary to Governor Goodrich. The governor now is in the south. Miller, Wayne county, rape.Zinn Meriitt, Clinton county, grand larceny.William Northrup, Tippecanoe county, larceny.The governor paroled the following prisoners while their cases were pending before the board of pardons:Melville Kaylor Allen county, assault and battery to rape.Karl Poore, Marshall county, forgery.Fogarty Believes Him Iimorent.James Fogarty, warden of Michigan City prison, has contended that Hinshaw was innocent and has worked for his pardon.Fogarty's belief is based on an incident which occurred several years ago when Hinshaw was near death and physicians had given up hope for his recovery.Late one night Fogarty went into Hinshaw’s cell In the hospital ward, where the prisoner was lying on what they both believed was his deathbed.There’s Just one thing,” Fogarty began.But Hinshaw interrupted him. “I know what it is. Jim.” the prisoner said. I did not kill my wife. I loved her too much.
