Gwynnett Button For more than one hundred years the Button family has been conspicu ous in the affairs of Pharsalia They have held prominent offices in the town: some have followed professions calling for the best of skill and work manship; others have been interested in the legal profession, still others were acknowledged to be pro ficient in farming The family is fast lgappearing, leaving only a few of he let veneration to perpetuate is ahh! Gwinnelt Button came from England ad settled in the state of Georgia He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence Tis had one .on, Elias Clint Button moved to Kentucky, then o Virginia, and from there to Dene Dutchess counts, N + He had four oar and two daughters, as follows Mra Qeorge Champlin, Mre Dideon Phornton, Orrin, Isewitt, Gwinnett and Russell) Elias Button moved to Pharsylia in 181% Gwinnett Button , married Nancy, Baker They had seven sons and three daughters, viz Hannah, Lenora, Jane, Ambrose, Nel on, Edwin, Bryant, Gussie, Frank and George Wm Nelson Butts, born in Tutchess county, in 1809, married Clarissa Gulett. They had thirteen children, as follows Decature, John L., Orlando, William Hi, Leander, Raphael, Delos R. Dever, Mary, Cal phine, Caroline, Jessie and another died in infancy Dr. L. D. Greenleaf Dr [avi D. Greenleaf was a son of Tilly Greenleaf, of Oriskany Falls NY. and Weltha Dickinson Green leaf, of Goshen, N Dr Greenleaf was born at Eaton, NY. Aug 3, 1832, and came to Pharsalia in about 1845, locating at EB. Nov 26, 1896 He was buried In the cemetery at North Pharsalia, Norwich Lodge F A. M, of which he was a member. having charge of the funeral He was married twice His first wife was Di antha Crandall, to whom were born four children, Pomery, Lettie, I.dz zie and Mary After the death of his wife, Diantha. Mr Greenleaf married Elizabeth, daughter of Maurice Davis, to whom were born two sons, I.. Dick @axon and Maurice D Greenleaf JIcw
