Her letter is in an adjoining column todavShe resents the fact that “outside interference” has been cited in this matter. But itis a fact. If is outside interference that is being brought to bear. She endeavors to alignthis newspaper, and the people of Oxnard,with newspapers and citizens in the deepSouth “who hope to throw up a smokescreen.”peopie of Oxnard and this newspaper and thescreenendeavor to besmirch this area as one affected by deep South bias, a most unfair charge.The case, indeed, is one not only of outside participation, but of a planned programfor such activity, as Mrs. Simmons makesclear. Everyone here knows that educational standards are the same and as high inColonia as elsewhere in Oxnard. No residenthere ever denied that. She further obscures the facts of Oxnard by saying thatschoolzone lines around the white and minoritysections of town.This has never, of course, been the casegrowth of Oxnardpolicyserveof expanding areas, and to place them inforcedtoo far to schoolThis policy, with the specific schoolsstatedbond issues submitted to the people.
