CUT IN THE BACK.Serious Injury to an Incline Collector.The Mt Lookout Incline was the scene of a bloody cutting affray last night, which resulted in the serious injury of James Cornelius, the incline collector. The trouble which led to the affray arose over a dispute between Cornelius and a driver named Marra about some car tickets.It was about half-past 8 o'clock when Marra’s carreached the top of the incline. As is usual, the driver stepped up to Cornelius, the collector, to settle his accounts. In this a dispute arose regarding some tickets. Angry and hot words passed between the two men until a fight was inevitable.After several blows were exchanged Marra took a pocket-knife from his pants pocket, opened it and made a thrust at Cornelius. The blade penetrated him in the back, just below the left shoulder blade, producing a very painful and serious wound. After the cutting Marra made his escape, and up to a late hour last night bad not been captured. Marra is an unmarried man, and lives on Mt. Adams.After Cornelius was cut he was couveyed to his home at bio. 3 Cottage Terrace, and attended by a physician.It is thought that he can not survive.
