Habttobd City, Ind., March 2.— This usually quiet city was thrown into the greatest excitement yesterday when at 11:30 a. m., the drill in the gas well opened up a tremendous volume of natural gas. Hundreds of people gathered at the well and real estate and gas stock immediately received a big boom. The gas was struck at the depth of 942 £ feet. People who are familiar with the great , gusher at Eaton, Ind., say the Hartford City well exceeds it in the amount of the produot. The practicability of piping the gas to Fort Wayne is being canvassed.
