OctaveThe RegisterBREA Senior forward Mike Oziminski scored two goals in the tirst half and teammate Tony ( a tala no added one in the second Tuesday to lift top-seeded Brea-Olinda to a X 1 victory over Coachella Valley, advancing the Wildcats to the CIF hoys 2-A Division championship.It will be the second year in a row in the title game for the Wildcats, who tied Central of El Centro in last year’s final“I think this is really a dream come true, said Brea-Olinda coach Manny Toledo “We don’t have as many skilled players as we did last season, but this year we stuck to the basics, and we did it well.The Wildcats (17-4-2). the Orange League champions, will faceSOCCERSunny Hills, a 1-0 winner over Orange.“It really doesn't matter to me who we face in the championship, Toledo said. “I think at this point, any team that makes it this far can only come out a winner.After playing Coachella Valley to a scoreless tie for much of the first half, Oziminski scored his team’s first goal on an assist from halfback Matt Swindle with seven minutes remaining in the half.Five minutes later, Oziminski scored on a midfield pass, again from Swindle, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead at the half.I think the difference in the game was our aggressiveness, Oziminski said. “As the game progressed, we began to play withmore intensity, and now we re going to the championship and no one's going to stop us.In the second half, Coachella junior midfielder Alfredo Preciado scored on a penalty kick to give his team its only point.With two minutes remaining, the Wildcats scored their final goal when Catalano, up from the junior varsity, scored from the right side at close range, but in the process he suffered a broken nose.The injury was a result of a collision with Coachella goalie Jose Garcia. However, Toledo said, Catalano will be able to play in the championship game Saturday at 6 p.m. at Gahr High in Cerritos.Sunny Hills 1, Orange 0: Abid Chaudhry scored with two minutes to go in the first half, and the Lancers (18-2) held on to edge the Panthers (20-8-1) at Orange.Sunny Hills goalkeeper Jason Sugarman recorded 10 saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season and second m the playoffs.The Lancers advance to meet Brea, which knocked Sunny Hills out of the playoffs in the second round last year with a J-l victory.In the 4*A:Mater Dei 0, South Torrance O (Mater Dei advances on penalty kicks, 7-6): After a scoreless regulation and two overtime periods, junior goalkeeper Mike Reis stopped a penalty-kick attempt to lift the Monarchs lt;24-2-1 over the Spartans (2.V8) in the semifinals at South Torrance.Mater Dei (24-2-1), which has never played in the championship round, faces West Torrance for the title Friday at 8 p.m. at Gahr High.
