So far nameless, the 130-carat, blue-white stone is valued at more than two million dollars. .Cily NearingCompletion ofParking StudyTo Determine Area for Boost In Meter RatesResults of a parking survey being completed today will be turned over to the City Parking Authority to aid In planning use of its parking structure and more parking sites.Traffic Engineer Francis Burton said 39 specially-hired men worked the downtown area three days last week making the survey. They arc finishing the work this week. The investigators questioned motorists, checked license numbers and studied parking lots.Purpose of their detailed study, Mr, Burton raid, was to find out where the motorists were going, how long they were going to stay, and where they had come from.Desire PatternTabulation of this information, he said, will give the department a desire pattern for establishing the core area for increasing meter rates around the parking structure. At the same time, data will be provided on location of other oif-itreet parking sites. The survey work is done by the city and results are tabulated by Bamp Corp., city parking consultants.The city expects to call for bids on its $515,000 parking ramp garage within 45 days. Architect Louis Hesselden has designed the reinforced concrete building which will be located at Fourth and Silver SW.Revenues from operation of the building and from increased meter rates will repay bond money raised for financing the parking program.
