A. J. Madden, 79,Greeted by FriendsResident of this community for , over half a century, Albert J. Madden of Rivers celebrated his 79th birthday among members of his family, old friends and neighbors, on Tuesday. Actual date of his birthday, however, was Wednesday.Mr. Madden was born at Shanty Bay, Ont., and came west, to the municipality of Daly, in 1891. He worked for the late S. B. Nunn. In 1899 he purchased the E. Dad-son farm, north of Rivers, and a year later married Alice Lillian,Nun|l-, j. ■ ' ., ••*»«/., ,v. ............. * « . ... ««*, ». •.For over 20 years he operated a dairy business, for years he was connected with the Rivers agricultural society. Forty-one years after settingup housekeeping, the couple retired to live in Rivers.Five years ago, still ^keeping a hand' in the farm's activities, Mr. Madden was injured in an accident — one which necessitated his taking things easy. Otherwise, his general health has remained good.Mr, and Mrs. Madden have three sons and two daughters living: Russell and Stuart of Rivers; Gordon of Eilscott, Alta-; Mrs. E. Dickson of Colinton, Alta,, and Mrs. H. Seaborn, Rivers. There are 16 grandchildren.
