The evening \ andFULLERTON', Mar. 8.—Preliminary work on the high school audi-toium Is expected to start within a few days it was learned today, when announcement %vas received that bids on the excavation and concrete had been accepted by the high school trustees.William J. Shirley, of Los Angeles, was the successful bidder for the excavation work with a bid of $3600 and he also received the concrete work on a bid of $81,-984. The next lowest bid on the excavation was from Fullertonfirm at $8,596.The bids for structural steel were rejected as they were considered too high. Of the five bids received, there was scarcely more than $1000 difference between the highest and lowest bid. The clerk will advertise again for steel bids.The Raymond Concrete Pile company received the contract for piling and estimated the cost to be $13,889. Total expenditures in the bids today called for $99,473. A fund of $110,000 is now available for building and other portions of the construction will be added as the work proceeds following the receiving of additional money under the new budget after July 1.A communication was received from the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce in which it assured cooperation with the school board in the matter of a northern Orange county junior college, as a result of the recent resolution of the local trustees.A letter explaining that any action at the present time on the matter for forming a joint junior college district for northern Orange county was inadvisable due to impending changes in the school law by the legislature, was sent to the Anaheim chamber by the board.The mCalifornipany wa: week.
