Considering the dull times it is re markable to see the large amount of new building already starting up throughout this section. On nearly every street foundations are going in and frames puing up, while the archi tects are busy with plans for other houses not yet started. The coming season promises to be one of unusual activity in Oak Park and Austin. E. E. Roberts has let the contract for a store to be built on the cor. of Har lem are. and Franklin st. for Mr. John Preston. Rev. A. B.Temple of Geneva N. Y. believes in the future of Oak Park real estate. He recently purchased two houses on Woodbine avenue through Messrs. Lyman, Paine Co. 1018 Tacoma Building, which are being fitted up in first class order and will be for sale or rent. He has also bought of Lyman, Paine Co. vacant property in Woodbine Subdivision. The same firm have also sold to Sampson Rogers of Oak Park 53 feet on north Euclid ave. on which he is preparing to erect a fine resident. It is stated that Mr. Frank Ballard will build a fine residence on Scoville ave. Fair Oaks, this spring. C.¥. Duerr, of the Yown Market, has purchased 50 feet on Lake st . 5. @. corner Harlem ave. He will turn the old buildings around and build a fine three-story brick store and flat build ing on the lots. ‘The price paid was $150 per front foot. Bruce Bunge, the plumbers, will occupy the new store built by Mr. Kannenberg on Lake street. H. B. Waterman will build a $6,000 residence on 8. Grove ave., after plans by W. J. VanKeuren. The latter has also made plans for a house to be built by W. A. Robertson on S. Qak Park ave; also for a handsome 12 room resi dence for J. E Davis on Wesley ave. The cost will be $7,000. A. A. Adair has purchased of Dr. Retter the house in which he now lives, corner of 8. Grove ave. and Boulevard. A. Hemingway negotiated the sale. It is reported that Mr. Lumbard has sold 75 feet, n. w. cor. Prairie ave. and Pleasant. for $60 a foot. Prairie ave. property is looking up. The new Auditorium, society halls and flats, which are to be put up by a stock company composed of our own citizens, after plans prepared by W. J. Van Keuren, architect, will be located on Lake street, east of Forest avenue, the old Turner property, now owned by E. C. Cook, and will be an ornament and a useful addition to our beautiful village.
