M. Bergere and Hon. Solomon Luna, died last evening at (5 o’clock at her home on Grant avenue, after a brief illness with congestion of the lungs. She was a native of Belen. Valencia county, having been born there seventy-nine year* ago of distinguished parentage. Her mother was a Castillo and her father a Baca-Both families settled in what is now Valencia county early in the seventeenth century, being among the first Caucasian settlers of New Mexico. At the age of 13 she married Antonio- »T. Luna, who was iniluential in political circles in his county, and held the office of probate judge for several terms, besides declining a number of other official honors. Mrs. Luna lived for many years at Los Lunas, and three years ago removed to Santa Fe. Her husband died in 1881. Her children were J. M. Luna, for many years sheriff of Valencia county, who died fifteen years ago; Tranquilino Luna, who was a delegate to congress, and for several years sheriff of Valencia county, also preceded his mother to the grave; Hon. Solomon Luna. one of the leading citizens of the territory, a member of the national Republican committee, and who was the first man in the history of New Mexico to decline the nomination for delegate to congress when tendered him unanimously and with victory assured, because his aged mother desired him to stay with her; and Mrs. A. M. Bergere. Deceased also had two other children, who are. however, dead. Among her grandchildren was the late lamented Captain Maximiliano Luna. Mrs. Luna was a bright woman, and beloved by the people for her charity and benevolence. She had many noble characteristics of mind and heart, and was a dutiful daughter, a most exemplary and virtuous wife, and a true and loving mother.Solemn requiem mass will be celebrated at the cathedral to-morrow forenoon at 10 o’clock. Friends of the family are requested to accompany the remains from the house on Grant avenue to the cathedral. The remains will be taken to Los Lunas to-morrow afternoon, where the funeral will take place on Monday. Mrs. Solomon Luna, Hon. J. Francisco Chaves and Hon. Manuel R.
