Odgers celebrate birthdaysThe children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Marvin C. and Barbara M. Odgers of rural Sublette are planning a family reunion inBarbara and Marvin Odgerscelebration of Marvin and Barbara’s 80th birthdays.Family and friends are invit ed to participate in the celebra tion with cards/memories sent to Carol Ann Zimmerman, HCR 1 Box 85, Sublette, KS 67877 or visit the family at the United Methodist Church, Sublette, with a shared lunch (meat, bread and drink provided) from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002. The celebration will also honor their daughter, Marsha Wall Blackstock, who will celebrate her 50th birthday in September.Barbara Mae Field was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Edwards County, the eldest child of Ray and May Field. Her brother, Daniel, died when Barbara was 13 leaving her an only child. Shegraduated from Kansas State University in 1945.Marvin Charles Odgers was born June 26, 1922, inWashington County, the second child of Bryan and Fern Odgers. His older brother, Loren, died at 1 1/2 months. His younger brother, Melvin, was born Five years later. Marvin at tended Kansas State University where he met Barbara. They were married Nov. 1,1943.In 1947, they moved to a farm in Seward County They have spent their lives farming, rais ing sheep or backgrounding cat tie and volunteering in their church and community Although both are retired they remain active in 3 M Farms Inc.. Sublette United Methodist Church. Farm Credit Board and Finney County Genealogical SocietyThey have four children: Carol Ann Zimmerman. Sublette; Karen Krill, Wichita; Marsha Wall Blackstock, Baird, Texas; and Charles Odgers, Sublette. The Odgers have 11 grandchildren, six stepgrand children and four great grandchildren.
