A total of 14 such squadrons are planned.The 18 Titan launching sites will be dug into (jutlying areas of the present^JLittle Rock Air Force Base, which will sdfkport the missile operations, the4Air Fo re e said.- Each site of about 10 acres will be at least 18 miles from the air base.1 Capable of carrying a larger nuclear warhead than the earlier Titan I, the new missile uses a new* fuel which can be stored for long periods and kept ready for almost instantaneous firing. It also can be fired in salvos and can be fired from its underground concret silo Earlier versions had to be raised to ground level for firing.The advanced Titan will be directed to its target by a special guidance system which the Air Force says cannot be jammed by any known method.Prime contractor for the Titan is The Martin Co. Its rocket engines are produced by the Aero-jet General Corp, ,The A. C.
