WigintonRobert Dulah (R.D.) Wiginton died Wednesday, June 12, 2002.He was bom Oct. 6, 1921 in Lesley (Hall County), Texas, the fourth child and first son of Dulah and Mary Ollie Stephenson Wiginton. He lived and attended school in the Lesley and Lakeview communities until 1939, when he moved with his family to Hedley, Texas. He graduated from Quail Rural Consolidated High School in1941. After graduation he moved to Dallas where he was employed by North American Aviation. He married Omelee Hill Nov. 18,1942.Inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944, he did basic training at Camp Fannin in Tyler and was immediately shipped to the European Theater as a replacement soldier in Patton's 3rd Army. Wounded March 28, 1945, as the Allied Forces were advancing on the Rhine River, he spent the next six months recovering in hospitals in France and England and finally Fort Sam Houston hospital in San Antonio where he was discharged in September 1945.He returned to Dallas in 1945 where he continued to live and work for General Motors dealerships, Van Winkle Motor Co: (27 years) and Henry Butts Oldsmobile (eight years) when he retired in 1985.He was an avid fisherman and spent his retirement years happily fishing on most every lake in Texas, especially Lake Palestine.Robert Dulah WigintonHe is survived by his wife, Omelee of Duncanville; daughter and son-in-law, Rich and Sherrie Betham of Double Oak, Texas; one grandson, Brian Betham of Lewisville; one sister, Jackie Ranson of Giles, Texas; two sisters-in-law Bonnie Hill, of Norman, Okla., and Floye Wiginton, of Memphis, Texas; two brothers-in-law, W.H. Goodnight, of Memphis, and Clifford Woods of Houston, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, brother L.M Wiginton, and sisters Lettie Goodnight and Charlcie Woods.Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday June 17, 2002, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville with burial in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
