We are ten minutes walk from a quaint little town, one of the most picturesque places I have seen over. there. We are living all right.“The hospital is an old convent, a beautiful place, high walls and quaint gardens and walks, dating back about 350 years. You would enjoy seeing how the French women wash their clothes. Out in the country they have pools bordered with cement platforms. These are the community wash places. The women bring the clothes to these places, wet and soap them and lay them on the cement or stone where they clean them by aid of stiff scrubbing brushes. They have no wash boards or hot water. The water I has become a dark, green dirty color now but they don’t seem to mind that and they do - a pretty good job of washing, turning out a good product of laundry work. I
