The Street Railroad.—Captain Whistler ha? already commenced erecting the necessary buildings for stables fur the street railroads. He will to-morrow award the contract for the lumber necessary for the •uperstructure of the track, and the work of grading will be commenced as soon as the lumber fur the superstructure can be delivered. We hope those croakers among us who have taken such special delight in decrying X*'w Albany, and have particularly harped upon the failure of th** previous efforts made here for street railroads, are now satisfied that their croaking* were without the desired effect. It is probably true that our people do not can- to make a big display and loud boa.-t of what they are doing in the way of needed public improvements; but we apprehend that in substantial results in the way of improvements which go to build up a town. New Albany can make a showing creditable to herself with any town of equal population in the west. In less than four months our citv will have a street railroad laid down the entire length of Main street, and th^ oars running upon it.
