They were the families of John Yasinski, Joe Yasinski, Wm. Tomyn, M. Fedorchuk, Mike Burmey. With the help of the local parish priest a beautiful church was built and completely finished on the outside with stucco and inside with wallboard and painted, the floor covered with linoleum.May 24 blessing of the church took place when over 250 people from Nampa, Peace River, Grimshaw, Berwyn, Fairview, Hines Creek, Dixonville, NorthStar, Manning, Notikewin,Hotchkiss gathered at the church at around 9 a.m. to witness blessing of the Hotchkiss church. A few families of other faiths were invited towitness the beautiful ceremony. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic church of All Saints, Hotchkiss, was a beautiful scene, decorated with evergreens and flowers when Most Rev. Bishop Neil Savaryn came from Edmonton to bless the new church. He was assisted by Rev. Paul Hradiuk, Edmonton, and the local parish priest Rev. Peter Moysuik, Manning. A small procession led by the two priests and Billy Yasinski, who carried the procession cross, was followed by the twin daughters ofrv*- if nlw* ;tr.d go.d fmyw*r** d?lt;i Ukrainian rr.-' MurK- ar;ri wfff followed by 10 HUP* flower girls dressed In white with blue and gold sashes, each carrying a basket of flower petals. The procession marched from the church to the arched decorated gate of flowers and evergreens with a motto of “Welcome” flanked on each side by a flag, on one side the Union Jack, the other the church flag of blue and gold.At the gate the procession met the bishop and little Audrey Yasinksi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Yasinki, Manning, presented the bishop with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the parish. Then in a few words Mr. Wm. JTomyn greeted the bishop in^the Ukrainian custom with bread and salt. With singing of a favorite Ukrainian hymn the processionmarched back to the church and around it three times with all the congregation following. Then after a solemn prayer the blessing of the church took place, followed by high mass sang in Ukrainian. The bishop congratulated the families for building so beautiful a church and bestowed his blessing on each family. After service a bountiful lunch was served under the large shade trees at the rear of the church when 250 people sat at the tables, renewed old acquaintances and chatted a while before leaving for vheir homes.Your correspondent wouldUPTOWN THEATREPEACE RIVERMonday, Tuesday and WednesdayJune 22, 23, 24Lydia BaileyAdult — Drama in ColorAnne Francis, Dale RobertsonTVii irsrf ntr TiViHoTr ar»Hjr.dents. Then a few days later a young calf came in at night with its tail completely chewed off. Otherwise he was O.K. Mr. Vowel decided something had better be done about the culprit and went to Manning to interview the game warden to secure poison. He was already too busy with rabid animals so Alex Nickaporuk decided he would go gunning for the beast as he had a herd in the next pasture. He was lucky in sighting a large female wolf, which he shot and it must have been the guilty animal as since then the cattle have been unmolested. The main subject now is much needed rain for the crops which are well started and advanced. A lovely rain fell a week ago but the ground was so dry by the next day dust was flying again. However, crops are not suffering too badly. Gardens are well up but an infestation of every kind of bug imaginable is trying a taste and bite of each goodie so consequently one more chore is poisoning* them.
