John Connaliy, scored a lopsided victory in'the party’s state convention here Tuesday.■ Despite a token protest demonstration over barring of Bexar County liberal delegation, the five-hour convention was conducted in'an atmosphere of relative harmony by Texas Democratic standards..Connaliy forces controlled more than 3-1 on the test vote. The vote was 2,137 to 681 on adoption of. a State Democratic Executive Committee report which recomended sealing of a pro-Connaily San Antonio moderate. group.L1JJ Endorsed The convention strongly endorsed President Johnson and came close to embracing his program as well. It also: Named Connaliy head of the 98-vote Texas delegation to the National Democratic Convention and instructed the delegates to put forth every effort” for Johnson’s nomination.Urged all Texans to support Democratic nominees” from the courthouse to the White House.” Selected SDEC Chairman Frank C.
