Headquarters were established in a small gran warehouse in the rear of their wholesale establishment on the 1-G. N. 11. it, Co., tracks.It is now the oldest Ford Agency in this section of Texas. At the time these throe Ford cars came to town, they were equipped with what was thou called tho left hand drive and it excited a great deal of amusement ‘ and comment among the “Old’ ° Timers. George PoJgo bought one of the first cars. George Her by bought one very soon afterwards, and Mr. Moore drove one of them himself. There were probably about a dozen curs in all In Laredo at the time these cars came in. About, eight m* ten cars were sold in 1010 and two or three In 1911. The first cars were sold at about $110.00. In 1912 and 1913 business increased a little bit, and by 19 14 it became necessary to have an uptown place of business, so the spot in front of the Hamilton Hotel, now occupied by tho Sanies Moore Bldg.. was bought, and tho Laredo Auto Sales Company was incorporated by tho two partners of Sanies-Mooro Company and Harry JO. Samos.In 3 914 tho Company began to handle other cars in addition to Fords, and for tho next three years they had at different times the Oakland, Chevrolet, Stude-baker, Hupmobile, Cadillac, andwhen the Dodge was first produced, this Company had one of the first agencies of this ear that was placed in the State of Texas. During this period the Laredo Auto Sales Company operated a Ford garage on the Jarvis Plaza and the Citizen’s Garage, which was then located on Mata-moros Street, next block Hast of the old Court House.This Company sold the first Ford ear in the Counties of Duval, .Mm Hogg, La Salle, Dim-miek, and Zapata. Chns. Neal started in his automobile business, which has now grown to such large proportions, by handling a few Ford cars on consignment from the Laredo Auto ‘Sale*♦Company, In 1917 Ford business had increased to such extent that the Ford Motor Company was in a position to insist on exclusive representation. Since that time the Laredo Auto Sales Company has sold Ford products only.The sales of tho Ford car from 3 910 to the present date have just about kept pace with the* growth of Laredo and the figures showing tho Increase in sales from year to year point out very clearly the increase in all lines of business in Laredo during that time. From the sale of less than a dozen cars in 1910, the Company lias reached a volume of exceeding f00 new cars sold in one year. In April of 1922 realizing the future of the trade territory surrounding the Mlrando Oil Fields, a branch dealership was established at Mlrando City, Texas, which,sold during the first year nearly one hundred cars, and during the year of 1920 over 200 new Ford units were sold.Acquires New AgenciesDuring the past two years this Company luis also acquired control of tho agency at Enoltial, Texas, as well as tho agency at HebbronvUle, Texas, where the$ have associated with themselves, U. O. Tsauro Martinez, formerly manager of the Mlrando Auto Sales Company, is in charge of this department. Realizing the importance of the used car department in connection with any automobile business, this department has been given a very largo shave of tho attention of the management.
