Celebrates BirthdayHenry Hofeldt, one of Blue Island’s oldest residents celebrated his 80th birthday last Friday, at his home at 2013 High st. Mr. Hofeldt was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, and came to Blue Island with bis parents when he was less than 2 years old and when Western avenue was only a wagon trail. The family took up residence on a farm at 130th and Western which later became the Bauer homer and is now the site of the Mother of Sorrows Orphanage.His parents and family later moved to Waterloo, la., but Mr. Hofeldt remained in this city. He has many interesting stories to tell of the old days in Blue Island.
