BUILT IN 1857- Samuel S. Tipton, who brought the first purebred Shorthorn Cattle to Kansas in 1856, had this stone mansion built the following year. ' It is an historical landmark, standing high on a cliff 16 mileswest of Garnett and believed to be one of the oldest houses in Anderson County still habitable.
