LOCAL WOMAN’S 82ND BIRTHDAYMrs. Maria Williams of 126 Unionstreet is 82 years old today, but nospecial observance is being made of the event. She is strong and activeyet and does not appear to have theDurden of so many years.Mrs. Williams was born in Copake. N. Y., one of a family of 13 children of Richard and Clara Van Deu-^en, members of a strong, upright Columbia county family. She was married to Peter Williams of Hillsdale, N. Y., who died about 40 years ago.She made her home in Hillsdaleand Copake ail her life until aboutfour years ago when she came tothis city to live at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Poe be W. Frost. Mrs. Williams has two sons and a daughter, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her children are Mrs. Frost of this city, Aaron Williams of Cleveland, O., and Wallace Williams of Sacramento, Cal.Her grandchildren are Miss Ruth E. Groat and Carl D. Groat of this city, children of Mrs. Frost, Viola and Wallace Williams of Cleveland. Her great-grandchildren are the two sonsof Wallace Williams.Last fall Mrs. Williams visited inCleveland and attended a reunion of four generations of her family. Last month she was present at the 90th birthday observance of her only sister, Mrs. Clarinda Melius of Copake,N. Y. She has brothers living. Mrs. Williams is a member of the Hillsdale Presbyterian church but in this city she has been an attendant at the South Congregational church. She is a woman of strong Christian character and a devout student of the iiibie.
