Brandon aaid he was a sergeant of police stationed in Kingston. He knew premises 4 1 -Matthew’s Lane, Kingston. The entrance was by 39 .Matthew’s Lane Some time ago he started making observations of these premises. Betweenthe hours,of 1 an^ 5 in the afternoons he would observe a number of Chinamen and Jamailns going to and fro—in and out the premises.On the 24th of April he visited the places. Warrants shewn him were signed by Dr. Lawsok Gifford J.P., permitted him to visit the places.Mr. C’argil, objected to the warrant for 3 9 Matthew s Lane being put in as they were being charged for i! .Matthew s Lane, and if therewhs a barred dcor the warrant permitted him to break it down hud enter. iWitness went on to say on the 2 4th of Apnl Detective Gayle and himself went to 39 Matthew’s Lane. They went along a passage, and were con-trunted with a gate. After getting through this gate, they w^ent along and saw another gate, which they got through, and saw a number ofChinamen running towards 39 Matthew’s Lane.
